Stronghold 1 Matches

This KoTH FFA Limited Rules tournament match on Karak featured Swix, Milan, and Stanas, each using a different economic strategy. Milan and Stanas relied heavily on bakeries, while Swix focused mainly on apple farms. Stanas built the strongest economy and produced a massive army, but struggled to spend his gold quickly enough. Swix won the first fight for the middle keep and reduced the timer early. Milan later retook it with a forward tower, and the two traded control before Milan brought the timer down to around 16,000. Stanas eventually captured the keep but could not withstand pressure from both opponents. Milan reclaimed it, reduced the remaining timer, and secured the victory. Swix narrowly finished ahead of Stanas by only a few hundred points, earning a place in the semifinals, while Milan advanced to the grand finals. A very close and entertaining match that could have gone either way.

1v1 King of the hill. Milan dominated Swix in a one sided match. Even Socketz couldnt offer advice because Milan had so many trebs set up. As soon as Swix attempted to set up a siege it was instantly destroyed. Hopefully this is 250 characters because there's not much left to say. Swix gave up when the counter was around 20,000 left.

1v1 Castle enclosure rules. Swix mainly on defensive the whole match. This was a long game probably close to an hour. Lots of treb and cata action with cowing. Stanas eventually gathered a large army with shielded archers and crossbow and macemen and tunnelers and catas. Stannas sent his shielded archers and crossbow to Swix's left side hill and sent his mace men to bring down the wall. Even though swix had a large tower Stanas's forces were to great and overwhelmed him. Eventually Stanas broke into Swix's castle enclosure with his macemen and took down Swix's lord that was located on his center gatehouse.

2v2 stannas and swix vs marko and Sandy. Sandy didn't play but he was on Marko's team. Swix didn't do much accept defend his area against marko. Swix built a couple towers to defend. Swix did try to take down Marko's gat house that his lord was on with catas and had troops on his iron hill to protect the but Swix had to retreat once Marko produced nights. Stannas was able to attack Marko. Marko still had his lord on the gate house. Stannas sent a bunch of macemen to Markos gatehouse that Markos lord was on and was able to take the gatehouse down and kill lord.

Castle enclosure. Milan got the upper hand on Sandy once again. Milan extended his tower once again. Sandy said he didnt have a chance. There was no peace time. Only rule was you couldnt make troops till castle enclosure was finished. Milan finished his first. Sandy made troops to defend before his castle was finished. Sandy over whelmed by Milan tried to escpae to swix's keep but Sandy forgot that he couldn't open the gate and when he tried to ask swix to open the gate, it was too late and Milan killed Sandy's Lord. At this point, it was 2v1. Trooper and Milan had too many knights and Swix could not defend. Swix surrended.

castle enclosure rules. Swix and Milan vs. Sandy and Trooper. Milan extended his walls and took Sandy by surprise. Sandy didn't think it was allowed but Since the castles are extended, I think it was fine. Sandy built a tower with stairs and Milan took control of his tower. Swix had trooper pinned down with shielded archers on Troopers iron hill and used catapults to pull down a section of wall. While swix wasn't paying attention to his Lord on his keep, Sandy rushed Swix keep with tunnellers, killing Swix's lord. Milan sent tunnelers to Troopers lord and killed his lord. Then Milan tracked down Sandy's lord with tunnelers and killed Sandy's lord. Game Over.

A great game between Swix, Northern, and Nigel. Although the final numbers may not show it, the match was very entertaining to watch, especially the casted version. For beginners, Northern and Nigel both played very well. Nigel built a strong macemen army and used it effectively to rush in and destroy a large number of shields. Northern also had a solid group of crossbowmen and archers positioned on his tower, which helped defend against Swix’s attacks. Swix had a great economic setup that allowed him to consistently produce weapons and maintain pressure throughout the match. There were moments when Northern and Nigel worked together and looked capable of bringing him down. In the end, though, Swix’s constant pressure and siege attacks gradually forced them back, giving him control of the middle King of the Hill keep long enough to secure the win.

Milan played phenomenally and built an incredibly strong economy. Early on, Stanas and ZeroAPM rushed the middle keep with shields, with Zero winning the initial skirmish. While Milan invested heavily in bakeries, Zero and Stanas focused more on an apple-based economy. As the match went on, Milan’s economy became overwhelming, allowing him to maintain constant pressure on both opponents. Stanas and ZeroAPM never really formed the temporary alliance they needed to weaken him. Instead, they spent too much time fighting each other, which ultimately cost them. Neither player could keep up with Milan’s continuous sieges and attacks, and Milan deservedly took the win.

Nigel came away with the win in this match after a game that had a few unusual turns. King Blue had a strong start, but unfortunately he crashed out due to internet connectivity issues, which left him unable to continue. Nigel got himself into a strong position early by completing a solid castle and setting up a great tower placement near the middle King of the Hill keep. From there, he was able to get range onto the keep and apply pressure. Strangers responded by building a large army of swordsmen and sending them to destroy Nigel’s tower setup. However, Nigel reacted well by moving his units off the tower, onto the gatehouse, and then around the back toward his base. Since swordsmen are very slow and cannot sprint, they were picked off while trying to chase him down. Strangers eventually turned her army back toward the middle and managed to take the King of the Hill keep for a while, but she later had to leave the game. With King Blue already out and Strangers unable to continue, Nigel finished as the winner. Strangers took second place, while King Blue finished last due to his connection issues.

Milan controlled this match from start to finish. Trooper and Northern didn’t have much to show overall, and neither of them was able to put serious pressure on him. Milan, being a very experienced Crusader player, clearly had his strategy prepared. He took the middle King of the Hill keep early and held it comfortably for most of the game. Northern did attempt a small push with shields and archers, and Trooper also made a small attempt, but neither attack was nearly enough to break Milan’s hold. With very little successful retaliation from the others, Milan maintained control and closed the game out fairly quickly.

Stanas took the keep early with a strong pikemen and crossbow setup, holding it long enough to run his timer down by around 12k. APM Zero then got into the game with strong trebuchet pressure, tower fortification, and keep control, bringing his timer down substantially. Swix later took the keep, but lagged out shortly after, so the game was reloaded from a save about 3–4 minutes earlier. After the reload, Swix and Stanas both pressured Zero heavily, especially because Zero had the lowest timer and was closest to winning. Swix’s siege and catapult pressure drained most of Zero’s gold. Zero felt the pressure was uneven due to Swix having invested in Stanas’s stock during the match, though it may also have been because Zero was closest to victory. With Zero around 10k and Stanas around 20k, Zero left the game and Stanas took the win. WP Stanas. Great FFA game between Stanas, ZeroAPM, and me on a Limited Rules KoTH map, with no base attacking, economy attacking, or lord killing. I spent most of the early game heavily sieging ZeroAPM, but later had to shift pressure onto Stanas because he had a forward tower close enough to hit the middle keep. After sustained treb and cata pressure, Stanas eventually ran out of gold and couldn’t keep up with the repairs and management, forcing him to abandon the tower. That gave me the opening to retake the keep. Their first major attack caused me to take a big loss, so I had to regroup and rebuild a larger army. Fortunately, I had already run the timer down quite a bit, and I was able to send in another strong wave, retake the middle, and hold the keep until the timer hit zero.
